I'm envious of you for having a good singing voice to start with. As I've aged, my voice has become raspy and crackly; I can't believe I actually sang soprano in my high school chorus! Enjoy your peonies -- my favorite flower, especially rich pink!
Glad you’re enjoying the singing lessons (always loved your voice), and you may have recently read that singing impacts certain specific neurons in brain that speaking, writing, and playing instruments do not. Dance impacts other neurons, I believe. I love to sing, as well, and I believe one of the failings of our society is professionalizing the arts and so much else — most of us should be singing and dancing and not caring about being excellent, just enjoying, as you correctly say. As my old doctor in Europe repeatedly said, half his patients would be better if they just sang and danced.
After 50+ years of wishing I played music, I was gifted a friend’s accordion, the instrument I played as a child. With both excitement and fear, I found myself a teacher and now I’m taking accordion lessons and totally enjoying it. No aspirations besides getting better through practice and expanding my repertoire…. Just for me and enhancing my joy that comes from making music.
I love everything about this beautiful post! When was the last time you listened to our L’cha dodi??
Awww thank you! And recently - I have the SoundCloud link 😂 it makes me cry!
It really is so beautiful!
