Hi friend,
Missed you! ❤️️
I hope you’re having a cozy start to 2025. January sped by and this feels like my first real chance to take a deep breath since Thanksgiving.
It’s that time of year where I’ve almost forgotten the sensation of sun on my skin; February in New York is cold, blustery, and mostly gray. However, after almost 10 years of living in the northeast, I’ve finally figured out my perfect formula for appreciating this season. Winter forces me to slow down and find pleasure in the ordinary: savoring my morning coffee ritual, experimenting with soup recipes, wearing chunky colorful socks and my favorite wool sweater, tucking into bed early with a good book, baking
’s lemony turmeric tea cake, and writing in my journal. I just realized that February marks 14 months of daily morning journaling, which I am so proud of! What began as morning pages during The Artist’s Way course, has become an incredibly important, life changing practice for me. More to come on that in a future post, maybe? In a recent conversation with my sister, she sagely reminded me that January in the northern hemisphere is a time (if not the best time) to emulate the natural world: to rest and replenish. It’s the season to turn inward, recharge, and plant seeds for a sweet and intentional year ahead.
For me, this meant embracing a slower approach to the new year: I spent last month dreaming about the year ahead without forcing rigid resolutions, implementing unsustainable routines, or immediately rushing into action on January 1. Instead, I focused on reflection, allowing space for new ideas to emerge and explore what I truly want from 2025. I had a vision boarding party with my best friend (extremely fun, highly recommend) and I hosted my first-ever journaling workshop (!!!), where we worked through prompts to spark curiosity and connection.
If you’re in the mood to slow down, set some intentions, or engage in a bit of reflection - whether it's related to the new year or not - I’m sharing some of the prompts from my workshop below. I know it’s early February, but you’re not too late!! Like most things, I believe reflection feels more meaningful when it’s not rushed or forced. I hope that these prompts offer you a space to reset, reflect, and gently shape your year ahead.
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE PROMPTS FOR REFLECTING ON 2024 AND SETTING INTENTIONS FOR THE YEAR:
If your life was a book, what is the chapter title for 2024? What is the title of the next chapter (2025)?
Which relationships, hobbies, or routines nourished you in 2024?
If you could fast forward to January 2026, how would you define 2025 as a ‘successful’ year? What does success look like for you in all areas of life?
What were the biggest challenges of the year?
Reflect on the best day of 2024… What were you doing? Who were you with? Where were you? Why did this day mean so much to you?
What were the biggest changes in your life last year?
